This is a highly efficient and compact heat exchange device widely used in the shipbuilding industry. Due to its unique structure and performance, it is particularly suitable for use on ships with limited space and demanding operating conditions.

Coaxial Heat Exchanger Copper
Key Features and Advantages

Marine coaxial heat exchangers are highly favored in the marine industry due to the following outstanding advantages:

Compact Structure and Space Saving: The spiral coil design allows for a larger heat exchange area per unit volume, making it ideal for ships with limited engine room space.

High Heat Exchange Efficiency: The combined effect of counter-current flow and turbulence results in an excellent heat transfer coefficient.

High Pressure and Vibration Resistance: The robust concentric structure and coil shape enable it to withstand high system pressures and effectively resist vibrations caused by ship engines and propellers, ensuring high reliability.

Easy Maintenance and Cleaning: The design typically allows for easy opening at one end, facilitating inspection and mechanical cleaning of the shell side (seawater side) to remove fouling such as shellfish and seaweed.

Diverse Material Selection and Strong Corrosion Resistance: The most suitable corrosion-resistant materials can be selected based on different fluids (especially seawater). For example, titanium has extremely strong resistance to chlorides, making it the preferred choice for seawater coolers.

Main Application Scenarios

On ships, coaxial heat exchangers are primarily used in central cooling systems, specifically including:

  • Engine cylinder liner water cooling: Transferring the high-temperature heat generated by the main and auxiliary engines during operation to the seawater coolant.
  • Lubricating oil cooling: Cooling the lubricating oil in the main engine, gearbox, and reduction gearbox.
  • Central freshwater cooling: As part of the central cooler, cooling the cryogenic freshwater circuit.
  • Other systems: Such as stern tube lubricating oil cooling, hydraulic oil cooling, and booster air cooling.
